PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Indiana took game two of the weekend series with Rutgers Softball on Saturday afternoon at the Rutgers Softball Complex. The Hoosiers shut out the Scarlet Knights, 9-0.
RU fell to 30-19 overall and 7-9 in the Big Ten. Indiana improved to 33-15 overall and 11-5 in league action.
Indiana 9, Rutgers 0 - 5 innings
- Indiana came out of the gate with four runs off a three-run triple to right by Stone and RBI single by Avery Parker.
- The Hoosiers added three more to the scoreboard in the top of the third. Brianna Copeland delivered a solo home run to left center, while a sacrifice fly from Brooke Benson added another run with Cassidy Kettleman able to sneak home with the Scarlet Knights putting Kinsey Mitchell in a rundown between first and second on the play.
- The visitors tacked two more in the fifth with RBIs base hits by Taryn Kern and Taylor Minnick.
Rutgers and Indiana close out the series on Sunday at noon at the Rutgers Softball Complex. Admission is free.
