
No. 16 Rowing Set for Big Ten Championships Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 16 Rutgers rowing enters championship season at the 2023 Big Ten Championships on Sunday, May 14 at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park. Racing begins at 9 a.m. with live results and a live stream on B1G+ both available for free.

The Scarlet Knights, who have been nationally ranked all season, are joined by Big Ten opponents No. 11 Michigan, No. 13 Ohio State, No. 15 Indiana, and No. 18 Iowa in the latest CRCA rankings.
Rutgers will enter seven point-scoring flights in the race for the Big Ten team championship title, which is awarded to the highest point total after the seven races. The flights are weighted differently and are as follows for the 2023 Big Ten Championships:
The Scarlet Knights head to championship season after sending all eight of their boats to grand finals at the Women's Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Massachusetts. The 3rd Varsity 4 won their grand final and subsequently was named the Big Ten Boat of the Week. The Varsity 8 claimed bronze with a third-place finish in the grand final.
Last time at the Big Ten Championships in 2022, Rutgers matches its best finish at the conference regatta in third place, while setting a new team record with six medals, including its first gold after a 2nd Novice 8 victory. The 2nd Varsity 8, Varsity 4, 2nd Varsity 4, Novice 8, and 3rd Varsity 4. The two novice boats both posted their best finishes at the Big Ten Championships since joining the conference in 2015, while the 2V8 and V4 matched their best conference regatta results in third place.
Junior Hannah Heideveld returns to the race after earning First Team All-Big Ten in 2022.
