SCORING SUMMARY
- Gia Girman set up the early opening goal with some tenacious possession in the Nebraska corner. Her pass out to Sara Brocious led to a few dribbles and a beautifully struck, bending ball into the left-side netting for the 1-0 lead just 4:20 into the contest.
- Nebraska leveled the match at 1-1 just 2:12 later in the seventh minute off a direct free kick just outside the Rutgers 18-yard box.
- A swift counterattack led to Rutgers' next go-ahead goal in the 23rd minute of the first half. Riley Tiernan played a perfectly weighted through ball to the Nebraska endline, where Allison Lowrey kept it alive and played a floating cross. The pass found a streaking Sam Kroeger, whose touch just snuck inside the post for the 2-1 advantage.
- The Cornhuskers again had the answer in the 43rd minute to send the match to halftime tied, 2-2.
