PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse has two student-athletes named Preseason All-Americans by multiple publications.
Shane Knobloch was named a First Team Preseason All-American by
USA Lacrosse Magazine and Second Team by
Inside Lacrosse.
Ross Scott was named an Honorable Mention selection by both publications.
Knobloch enters his senior season having previously been named an All-American after each season in a Scarlet Knights uniform and was a Second Team All-American via the USILA after last season. This will be the third straight season he will enter the campaign as a Preseason All-American. The midfielder from Moorestown, N.J. was recently ranked as the No. 33 player in the nation entering the season by Inside Lacrosse. Knobloch, who was also a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, has played in 46 career games, scoring 69 goals and adding 38 assists for 107 career points.
Scott returns to RU for a fifth season 'On the Banks'. A team captain for the second straight season, he has twice been named an All-American and is a preseason All-American for the second straight season. The West Linn, Oregon native was just ranked as the No. 26 player in the nation by Inside Lacrosse. A two-time all-conference selection, the 2023 Scholar All-American has played in 52 career games, scoring 89 goals and adding 48 assists for 137 points.
The duo is set to lead RU as the program looks to continuing building on the team's recent successes. Over the past three full seasons since returning from the shortened 2020 campaign, RU is 32-14. In that time, the Scarlet Knights claimed 13 ranked wins. RU has 36 ranked wins since 2003, and 26 of them have come since 2012 under head coach
Brian Brecht.
The upcoming season will begin on February 3 as RU host Lehigh in the season opener.
