PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Elysha Pribadi became the third Scarlet Knight in history to earn a trio of Big Ten Weekly honors in a season as she was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office.
Pribadi won three of RU's 13 events in a 199-99 victory over Villanova last Saturday, which included a pair of top-10 program performances
The Scarlet Knight freshman swept the breast events. In the 200 breast, Pribadi posted the fifth-fastest time in the Rutgers record books and won with a 5.25-second margin of victory hitting the wall in 2:14.12. The 100 breast saw her take the top time in 1:02.12 posting her fourth win in the event this season.
Pribadi also logged the seventh-fastest time on record in the 200 IM with a 5.64-second margin of victory clocking in at 2:01.88.
Pribadi is the fifth Scarlet Knight to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week and the fourth to earn multiple Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors in a season since Rutgers joined the league in 2014-15. It marks the most weekly awards for a Scarlet Knights since diver Addison Walkowiak earned four Big Ten Freshman of the Week accolades during the 2014-15 season.
Back on Oct. 11, Pribadi earned her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor making her Rutgers debut winning the 200 IM along with a runner-up finish in the 200 breast at the Rutgers Pre-Season Tune-Up.She won the 200 IM in 2:04.80 finishing ahead of Army's senior duo of Melinda Zhang and Aurelie Migault. Zhang finished sixth in the 200 IM at last year's Patriot League Championships while Migault was the Patriot League champion in the 100 breast and runner-up in the 200 breast. The Scarlet Knight was also the runner-up in the 200 breast clocking in at 2:18.37 behind Migault, the Patriot League Championship runner-up. Pribadi's debut also included top-eight finishes in the 100 fly and 100 breast. She logged a time of 56.89 as RU's top finisher in the 100 fly taking fourth. She also claimed fifth in the 100 breast in 1:04.98. She also swam with the 200 and 400 free and 400 medley "C" relay squads and appeared with the 200 medley relay "D" team.
On Nov. 15, Pribadi captured a then-PR in winning the 200 breast and logged third-place times in the 1000 free and 200 IM in Rutgers' meet at Princeton in the annual Battle For The Cannon Trophy. For the second-straight weekend, Pribadi had logged a Rutgers top 10 time in the 200 breast. She had knocked off .05 seconds off her previous best against Purdue to clock in at 2:14.92 for what was then the sixth fastest time in the Scarlet Knight record book. She also made her debut in competing in the 1000 free taking third in 10:17.01 and finished third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.45
