PISCATWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men's soccer (5-9-2, 2-6-1 B1G) took down No. 10 Maryland (8-3-5, 5-2-2, B1G) in the final home game of the 2024 season ono Tuesday night.
Ian Abbey, Nico Rosamilia and Aidan Flynn all found the back of the net in the Scarlet Knights' second top 10 win of the season.
Just before the half, Abbey cashed in on a penalty kick to give RU the lead with seconds left in the first half.
Rosamilia followed up in the 63rd minute with a deflection to score his third goal of the season and the ultimate game-winner.
The Terrapins got one back in the 72nd minute but Rutgers stayed hungry on offense. The team drew another foul in the Terps' box and senior captain Flynn recorded his first career goal on a PK with minutes left in regulation.

Game Notes
- Rutgers' 3-1 win over No. 10 Maryland is the second over a top 10 team this season as they also defeated then-No. 8 Wisconsin on Oct. 4.
- This marks the first time RU has defeated two ranked teams in the same season since 2008, when the team defeated then-No. 6 UC Santa Barbara (3-2) and then-No. 14 Louisville (2-1).
- As the Scarlet Knights also defeated Maryland in 2023, it is the first time in program history the team has defeated the Terps in back-to-back seasons.
- Abbey's score marks his second of the season and ninth of career. Both of his goals were scored off penalty kicks and he leads the team in the stat. The junior also added an assist on Tuesday night too sit second on the team with nine points.
- Rosamilia's goal signifies his third of the season and sixth in his four years. He now ranks fourth on the team with six points.
- The senior has scored in both of Rutgers' top 10 wins, as he also found the back of the net against then-No. 8 Wisconsin. He is tied for second on the team with a pair of Big Ten goals.
- Flynn was subbed into the game in the 75th minute on RU's backline. He scored his first career goal off a penalty kick less than 15 minutes later. He has been on the team for four years and his first career goal came in his last home game at Yurcak Field.
- With an assist on Rosamilia's goal, Curt Calov leads the team with 12 total points.
- Goalkeeper Ciaran Dalton made five saves in net for a total of 62 stops on the season.
- Freshman Arnar Adalsteinsson started his 12th outing for the Scarlet Knights.
- Other rookies in Scott Godden, Dylan Carlson, Matty Lynch, Thomas Angelone and Kristófer Arnarsson also got on the pitch.
