PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse head coach
Melissa Lehman has announced
Emalie Clothier,
Victoria Goldrick and
Madison Karpe as team captains for the 2025 campaign. Clothier will serve as captain for the second consecutive season, while Goldrick and Karpe earn the distinction for the first time in their respective careers.
A native of Lumberton, New Jersey, Clothier has appeared in 56 career games during her first three seasons in Piscataway. Last season, Clothier started all 18 games in the midfield and finished with 15 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, five draw controls, three assists and a goal. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and 2023 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Clothier has produced 44 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers and 19 draw controls during her standout career.
After missing her first two collegiate seasons due to injury, Goldrick broke out as a junior with 38 points on 24 assists and 14 goals in 17 games this past spring. Her 1.4 assists per game tied for seventh in the Big Ten Conference, while her 24 helpers finished second on the team in 2024. The Syosset, New York, native is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a 2024 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
A West Long Branch, New Jersey, native, Karpe has started in 55 consecutive games dating back to her rookie season in 2022. RU's defensive anchor has produced 79 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers across three seasons, with her 32 ground balls last season second on the team. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Karpe has caused multiple turnovers in seven career games.
Rutgers advanced to its fourth consecutive Big Ten semifinal appearance this past season after the Scarlet Knights defeated No. 7 Maryland in the conference quarterfinals on April 27 in College Park. RU tallied eight wins last spring and faced eight teams who advanced to last season's NCAA Tournament.
