Antwan Raymond was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday. The Scarlet Knights defeated Michigan State, 41-14, on the road to earn their fourth Big Ten win of the season, a new program high.
Raymond averaged 7.9 yards per carry with 71 yards on nine attempts. A native of Montréal, Québec, Canada, he scored from 13 and five yards out for his first multiple-score game. RU posted 208 rushing yards on the day to move into third in the Big Ten with 176.3 yards per game.
Raymond is second on the team with 344 rushing yards on the season, scoring five touchdowns. The five trips to the end zone are the most by a Rutgers true freshman since Robert Martin posted seven in 2014.
Raymond joins
Johnny Langan (Oct. 28, 2019) and Johnathan Lewis (Sept. 18, 2017) as Scarlet Knights to win Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
