PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball (8-5, 0-2 B1G) was defeated by No. 10/9 Ohio State (13-0, 2-0 B1G), 77-63, at Jersey Mike's Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Destiny Adams led both teams on the floor with 31 points and 17 rebounds. The performance marks her third 30-point double-double of the season and fourth of her career. She also tallied two blocks and five steals, both one off career highs.
Kiyomi McMiller also added double-digit points, netting 14. The showing was her eleventh contest of the season with 10+ points. Off the bench, Chyna Cornwell grabbed seven boards including five on the offensive glass.
How it Happened
- Ohio State jumped out to an early lead, but JoJo Lacey answered with a basket to keep it close. The Buckeyes kept the pressure on, but this time Destiny Adams came back with a fast break layup.
- OSU then scored five straight points before an RU timeout at 7:13, to take a 13-4 edge.
- The Buckeyes scored again after the break to push the lead to double digits, but Adams added two straight scores to cut the deficit down to seven.
- After another Ohio Stat basket, Adams and Kiyomi McMiller scored to bring the game within five with 3:33 left to play.
- Adams added another four straight points in between two OSU three-point plays. The opposition ended the first quarter up, 23-16.
- Adams traded baskets with the Buckeyes in the opening minutes of the second quarter to keep the game within seven.
- OSU then started to pull away, netting five points in 29 seconds to force another RU timeout at the 6:10 mark.
- Ohio State completed a 14-4 run and headed to the locker room with the 46-25 lead.
- The Scarlet Knights came out hot in the third period with a Lacey three pointer and two Adams layups to force an early OSU timeout at 8:01.
- After the stoppage, Lacey added another score to cap off the nine point stretch. Chyna Cornwell traded a basket with the Buckeyes before the 4:55 media timeout, with OSU still ahead 47-36.
- OSU then took control going on a 9-1 run until a Rutgers timeout at 2:49.
- The Buckeyes added two more buckets and two free throws with a Zachara Perkins free throw.
- Although with 1:21 remaining in the third quarter, Rutgers recorded seven unanswered points thanks to four from Adams and a McMiller three-pointer. OSU still owned the advantage however, 62-45.
- Awa Sidibe got on the board as the fourth quarter started, followed by four straight made shots from the charity stripe for Adams. The Scarlet Knights scored 13 straight across two quarters.
- McMiller then swapped a basket with Ohio State, as they maintained an 11-point lead with 6:41 remaining.
- OSU ticked off three more free throws before the 4:39 media timeout and added another score right after to make it 69-53.
- Rutgers wasn't done quite yet though, as McMiller sank a shot beyond the arc and followed by two made free throws forcing a second OSU timeout at 3:19.
- Cornwell and Adams both added layups and the Scarlet Knights brought the OSU lead down to single digits.
- Ohio State followed, adding scores off fouls and ultimately took the 77-63 victory.

Knight Notes
- Destiny Adams recorded her fourth 30-point double-double of her career and third this season. The two other performances this season came against Cornell (30 points, 15 rebounds) and NJIT (36 points, 22 rebounds).
- Adam's double-double marks her fifth of the season to pace the Scarlet Knights.
- Adams drew 17 fouls against the Buckeyes, her second highest total this slate. She drew 19 versus NJIT (Nov. 10) and 11 against Iona (Nov. 15). The senior drew four charges in the first quarter and one in the fourth.
- Kiyomi McMiller has now recorded 10+ points in 11 straight contests.
- RU outscored the Buckeyes in the second half 38-31.
- Rutgers held OSU to just 4-of-20 (20 percent) from beyond the arc, much lower than their season average (34.8 percent).
- The Scarlet Knights forced 20 turnovers, the most in a single game for Ohio State so far this season. The 20 turns also marks the second time this campaign RU has forced 20+ turnovers (24 vs. Marquette).
- The Scarlet Knights won the battle of the boards, 45-41, including the offensive glass, 18-13.
