Diving Hosting RU Dive Invite; Swimming Heads To Minnesota Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's swimming & diving team is a split squad this weekend as the diving squad hosts the Rutgers Diving Invitational at Rutgers Aquatics Center and the swim corps travels to the Minnesota Invite hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Jean K. Freeman Center.

- The Scarlet Knight divers last hit the water at the Buckeye Invitational.
- On platform, RU captured two program top 10 scores. Freshman Katerina Hoffman led the corps with a fourth-place performance scoring 273.65 for the sixth-best score in Rutgers history. Fellow freshman Bailee Sturgill also placed her name on the all-time list, taking eighth place at the invite, as her score of 248.60 marked the ninth-best score by a Scarlet Knight.
- Hoffman also led RU on 1M with a fourth-place performance in scoring a season-best and zone qualifying 297.90. Sturgill landed in sixth place, tallying a total of 289.55.
- Senior Holly Prasanto was the top Scarlet Knight on 1M leading the way with a sixth-place finish with a 315.70.

- RU captured 19 top three finishes and went 1-2 in the 1000 free, 100 and 200 breast and 100 back while securing top ten times/scores in the 100 and 200 breast against Princeton in the annual Battle For The Cannon Trophy.
- Sophomore Sofia Bartoloni captured two top 10 school performances in winning both breaststroke events. Bartoloni hit the wall in 1:02.29 in the 100 breast, knocking .71 seconds off her previous PR in the season opener at No. 24 Miami and captured the 10th fastest time at Rutgers. She followed with a time of 2:14.84 in the 200 breast, remaining in eighth on RU's all-time list but still took .26 seconds off her top time.
- Freshman Isabela Valle won her first distance event as a Scarlet Knight with a new PR in 1000 free. Valle clocked in at 10:14.76, dropping 14.77 seconds off her previous top time set in the season opener with No. 24 Miami.
- Graduate student Shannon Meadway also collected a new PR racing to a time of 1:51.54 in a runner-up performance in the 200 free. She took off .84 seconds from her previous best against Villanova last January. Meadway was also second in the 200 back and 200 IM.
- Sophomore Blanka Berecz also provided Rutgers with a trio of top-three performances in the 100 and 200 fly and the 500 free and junior Marytna Piesko gave RU a win in the 100 back.

- Rutgers women's swimming and diving swept the Big Ten Weekly Awards on Nov. 20 with sophomore Sofia Bartoloni winning Swimmer of the Week, senior Holly Prasanto taking Diver of the Week and fellow diver Bailee Sturgill taking home Freshman of the Week following their performances against Princeton in the fifth annual Battle For The Cannon Trophy.
- Bartoloni captured two top 10 school performances in winning both breaststroke events against Princeton. Bartoloni hit the wall in 1:02.29 in the 100 breaststroke, knocking .71 seconds off her previous personal best to capture the 10th fastest time in Rutgers' program history. She followed with a time of 2:14.84 in the 200 breaststroke, remaining eighth on Rutgers' all-time list and taking .26 seconds off her top time.
- Prasanto set the fifth-highest score in Rutgers' program history with a second-place finish on the 3-meter with a new career best of 338.03. She also finished second on 1-meter with a 297.53, just shy of a new PR. Her personal best of 299.20 came last season in the consolation finals of the NCAA Championships.
- Sturgill placed her name eighth all-time at Rutgers on 1-meter, taking third with a zone score and career-best of 297.30. She bested her previous score of 291.45 set last weekend against Purdue. On the 3-meter, Sturgill placed fourth with a score of 316.43.

- Rutgers finished 32nd at the NCAA Championships as Holly Prasanto earned second team all-america honors reaching the consolation final on 1M to place 11th overall. She became the fifth Scarlet Knight diver to earn all-america honors and marked the third-straight season Rutgers has sent a diver to the NCAA Championships.
- At the Big Ten Championships, eight NCAA B cuts were registered, 18 top 24 finishes were recorded, 13 program top 10 times were captured and 28 personal bests were set.
- The 400 medley relay squad consisting returning Scarlet Knights Martyna Piesko and Jade Smits had the highest-ever finish for a Scarlet Knight relay squad at the championships with a fifth-place finish and new school record.

- The Scarlet Knights earned the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) team award with a 3.59 spring GPA , marking the 21st consecutive semester. RU has been honored with one of the nation's top grade-point averages. RU's GPA was also the fourth highest among Big Ten women's swimming and diving programs, ahead of Ohio State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, and Purdue.
- Eight Scarlet Knights were honored as CSCAA Second Team Scholar Americans for achieving a 3.5 grade point average or higher while collecting NCAA B cuts or advancing to NCAA Zone diving competition including returnees Sephora Ford, Shannon Meadway, Martyna Piesko, Elysha Pribadi, Amelia Scott and Molly Urkiel.
- Last season, Rutgers women's swimming and diving posted 14 Big Ten All-Academic honorees and five Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

- Rutgers' Katerina Hoffman and Bailee Sturgill will compete at the USA Diving Championships in Bloomington, Indiana. Both will be on the boards for Synchronized 3M on Dec. 12, 1M on Dec. 13 and 3M on Dec. 15.
