Spilis Named Big Ten Midfielder of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Cassidy Spilis was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference. Spilis produced seven points on six goals and an assist to go along with eight draw controls for Rutgers women's lacrosse in its season-opening win over Manhattan last Saturday at SHI Stadium.
It is the sixth Big Ten midfield weekly honor of her career and her eighth overall weekly laurel from the conference. Spilis has now been named Big Ten Midfielder of the Week at least once in each of the past three seasons.
Spilis exploded for seven points on six goals and an assist in the Scarlet Knights' 20-11 win over the Jaspers this past weekend, which included four goals before halftime. The Tabernacle, New Jersey, native added a game-high eight draw controls along with a caused turnover and ground ball.
A 2024 preseason All-American by both ILWomen and USA Lacrosse Magazine, Spilis is two goals away from becoming the first player in program history to produced 200 career goals 'On the Banks'. In 64 career games, Spilis ranks first in goals (198) and is fifth in points with 209.
Rutgers competes in its first road game of the season when it faces Georgetown on Saturday, February 17 in Washington, D.C.
