PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 11 Rutgers men's lacrosse had two student-athletes named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Shane Knobloch and
Ross Scott, a pair of returning and Preseason All-Americans, were watch listed for the most prestigious award in collegiate lacrosse. This is the second straight year that the duo has been on the Watch List, and the third time for Scott. Both made it to the cut to the Top 25 last season. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
This is the 10th consecutive season that Rutgers has had at least one player on the Watch List.
Adam Charalambides,
Kieran Mullins and Jules Heningburg were all on the watch list multiple times, while
Ethan Rall,
Connor Kirst,
Colin Kirst,
Mitch Bartolo, Michael Rexrode, Scott Bieda and Joe Nardella have been recognized in that span. Also previously recognized were Will Mangan, Justin Pennington, Chris O'Dougherty and Greg Havalchak.
Knobloch, a Preseason First Team All-American by multiple publications, is a two-time All-American and two-time all-conference selection, in addition to a Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolade in 2021. The midfielder from Moorestown, N.J. has scored 72 career goals and added 39 assists for 111 points following a hat trick in last week's season opener.
Scott is a Preseason All-American and two-time All-American and two-time All-Big Ten selection. The attackman from West Linn., Oregon has 91 career goals and 51 career assists for 142 points in 53 collegiate games. He had two goals and three assists last weekend to make the USILA Team of the Week.
Players not named to this initial list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. The list will be updated multiple times throughout the spring before a group of finalists are selected in May.
