TOLEDO, Ohio –  Rutgers gymnastics will compete in a championship atmosphere at the Elevate the Stage Meet at the Huntington Center against defending Big Ten champions Michigan on Fri., Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. The event will feature elevated apparatuses throughout the Big Ten dual meet.

The Four Things to Know...
 

LAST TIME OUT

Rutgers gymnastics teamed up for its seventh-highest score in team history at the New Hampshire Quad Meet on Sunday with Brown and Towson, scoring a season-best 196.200 to finish second in the meet at the Whittemore Center. RU was just one-tenth off Towson's winning 196.300.

The Scarlet Knights combined for three event victories, their fourth-best bars score in team history, three 9.9+ scores, and seven career-high or tying scores.

LEESE LATELY

Senior Emily Leese won her eighth event in seven meets to start the 2024 season, taking the vault and floor crowns vs. Iowa last Friday and adding a floor title in the New Hampshire quad. Leese's 9.925 on floor at New Hampshire tied a career high and is the senior's 12th overall 9.9+ (seventh on floor). Her 9.900 on vault was her second of the season and fifth of her career. This meet marks the second time Leese has hit 9.9+ on vault and floor in her career (March 12, 2023). Leese is Rutgers' high scorer on vault and floor to start the season.

RILEY HAS ARRIVED

Sophomore Rachael Riley, who made her college debut this season, earned her first Top 3 finish with a 9.850 on beam in the Penn State dual, a new career high. Earlier in the meet, she tied her career-best 9.775 on vault. In her fifth collegiate event, Riley posted her first 9.900 while winning the beam at Illinois, sticking her landing and executing a triple aerial series with no deductions.
 

ALL-AROUND AIRD

Junior Elia Aird has returned to the all-around this season, improving her career-best with a 39.125 against Penn State, surpassing her previous standard of 38.975. Aird scored a 9.775 (vault), 9.700 (bars), 9.800 (beam), and 9.850 (floor) for her new career high.
