PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers field hockey was recgonized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Wednesday with the Division I National Academic Team award. The prestigious acknowledgment is granted to programs that have achieved an exceptional team grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year.
Rutgers was one of just 49 teams nationwide to earn the recognition. The team continues to suceed in the classroom, earning the recognition for the third straight year.Â
The field hockey program has been well recognized in the past weeks by the NFHCA in their annual academic awards releases. Rutgers previously had 16 student-athletes named last week to the NFHCA's National Academic Squad, and
Paulina Niklaus was named a Scholar of Distinction.Â
