PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball rookie guard Jillian Huerter has earned her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. The conference made the announcement Monday afternoon.
This is the first Big Ten weekly honor of the season for the Scarlet Knights and the first since Jan. 23, 2023.
This past week, Huerter helped to lead RU in a close contest against --/RV Michigan State (Jan. 30) and the team's first Big Ten win against Nebraska (Feb. 3), 71-70. The first-year student-athlete averaged 8.5 points, 5.5 rounds, 2.5 assists and two three pointers between both games.
Huerter hit three big three-pointers down the stretch against the Spartans to keep the score close. She ended the outing with 10 points, her sixth double figure scoring outing of the season.
Against the Huskers, the Clifton Park, New York product recorded seven rebounds to set a new career best. She also added another deep three to end the day with seven points.
Huerter currently paces Rutgers with 43 three-point field goals and second with a .387 percentage. She also sits third with 609 minutes played.
