Clifford Omoruyi continues to receive more and more accolades as his fourth season as a Scarlet Knight concludes.
Omoruyi, who is currently fourth in the nation in blocked shots was named to the Big Ten's All-Defensive Team as well as a Big Ten Honorable mention on Tuesday afternoon as the Scarlet Knights get set to head to Minneapolis for the Big Ten Tournament.
Omoruyi leads the fourth-most efficient defense in the nation at Rutgers according to KenPom. Omoruyi has 91 blocked shots on the season amassing three per game. Omoruyi leads the Big Ten Conference in both categories and the closest shot-blocker in the Big Ten to his total is 22 blocks away (Felix Okpara, Ohio State). Rutgers is 42nd in the nation allowing just 66.6 points per game. Rutgers is 28
th in the nation holding opponents to 40.6 percent from the field.
This marks Omoruyi's second time as an all-league defender as the Nigeria native was named to the Big Ten Conference's All-Defensive Team last season for the first time in his career alongside Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year
Caleb McConnell.
Omoruyi is also a member of the 2024 Naismith Men's Defensive Player of the Year Watch List among 15 of the nation's top defenders.

Oskar Palmquist was named the Scarlet Knights Sportsmanship honoree for the conference.
