PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse goalkeeper
Cardin Stoller was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Men's Player of the Week following an exceptional performance in the cage in the win over UMass.
Stoller made a career-high 19 saves, posting a save percentage of 67.9% in a 10-9 win over UMass on Saturday in a neutral site game on Long Island. The Boys Latin product had the most saves for any goalkeeper since Colin Kirst had 19 on Feb. 9, 2022 against Marist, a span of 38 games.
Stoller allowed just two goals in the final 32 minutes of the game and made the game-sealing stop in the final seconds to preserve the win. The Owings Mills, Md. native also had two ground balls and caused a turnover.
Stoller is the first RU player to be recognized by the organization as their national player of the week since
Ross Scott earned the honor following his eight-goal performance in the NCAA Tournament win over Harvard. Rutgers has also seen Kieran Mullins and Jules Heningburg earn the accolade.
Stoller and the Scarlet Knights will start Big Ten play this weekend. The No. 17/18 Scarlet Knights welcome in No. 11/13 Johns Hopkins at 4:30 pm on Sunday, with a national television broadcast on Big Ten Network.
