PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse midfielder
Shane Knobloch was named a Midseason First Team All-American by
Inside Lacrosse on Friday afternoon. Knobloch, who has been named an All-American after each of his first three seasons at RU and as high as Second Team All-American last year by the USILA, is tracking to become the first RU four-time All-American under head coach
Brian Brecht.
Knobloch has scored 22 goals and added six assists for 28 points in nine games this season. The Moorestown, N.J. native has already surpassed his last season's goal total, and has 91 goals and 44 assists for 135 points in 55 career games. He has recorded five hat tricks through nine games. A team captain, he was a Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch and is on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second straight season.
Knobloch has scored in 18 consecutive games, the 12
th longest streak in the nation. Ahead of May's Premier Lacrosse League draft, Knobloch was ranked No. 6 on Paul Carcaterra's Big Board (and the
No. 1 midfielder) and No. 8 by the PLL's Adam Lamberti.
Knobloch and the Scarlet Knights are back in action at home this weekend. RU hosts Ohio State at SHI Stadium Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
