PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (5-6, 0-4) hosts Hofstra (7-4, 4-0) on Wednesday night at SHI Stadium. First draw is set for 6 p.m. ET and will stream on Big Ten Plus, with Ralph Bednarczyk and Dexter Henry on the call.
Admission and parking for all home games are free. Fans planning to park must register their vehicles with the University through this
link. Visitors only need to register their vehicle once for the entire season. Parking for 2024 home games is in the Scarlet Lot outside the West entrance of SHI Stadium.
Wednesday is 'Eras Night', as fans will receive complimentary Rutgers women's lacrosse 'Eras Tour' t-shirts and friendship bracelets while supplies last.
- Rutgers lost to No. 3 Northwestern, 22-11, last Saturday night in Evanston, Illinois. Playing their fifth consecutive ranked opponent and second straight top-three foe on the road, the Scarlet Knights forced the Wildcats into 19 turnovers. However, NU used a 42-27 shot advantage and 23 draw controls to earn the Big Ten Conference win.
- Graduate student Cassidy Spilis produced five goals in the loss to the Wildcats, marking the seventh time the Tabernacle, New Jersey, native posted five or more goals in a game this season.
- Rutgers is in the midst of playing six ranked opponents in a span of seven games. The Scarlet Knights have already faced No. 1 Northwestern, No. 2 Maryland, No. 6 Michigan, and No. 16 Yale during the stretch, and will also face No. 9 Johns Hopkins (April 6) and No. 15 Stony Brook (April 9) after Wednesday's matchup with the Pride.
- Thanks to her five goals last Saturday, Spilis is now just 16 points away from surpassing current assistant coach Taralyn Naslonski for the most career points in program history.
- Already the program's all-time leader in career goals (238), Spilis is also second all-time in career draw controls (273) and seventh in career caused turnovers (82) at Rutgers.
- Through 11 games, Spilis leads the team in points (49), goals (46), draw controls (58), ground balls (24) and caused turnovers (16).
- Spilis is second in the Big Ten Conference and eighth nationally in both goals (46) and goals per game (4.18) this season. Spilis is also fourth in the Big Ten in draw controls per game (5.27) and ground balls per game (2.18) and fifth with 4.45 points per game.
- Last week, Spilis was named a Midseason All-American by ILWomen for the third career time.
- After missing her first two seasons due to injury, junior Victoria Goldrick has been a standout for the Scarlet Knights with 27 points on a team-high 19 assists and seven goals in 2024. Her 19 assists are fourth in the Big Ten and 45th nationally this season.
- The Pride enter Wednesday with seven wins and a four-game winning stream, defeating Towson 15-8 this past Saturday in their last time out.
- Melissa Sconone and Taylor Mennella pace Hofstra's offense with 47 and 42 points, respectively, while Kerry Walser leads the team with 31 goals.
- Hofstra leads the CAA and is fifth nationally in clearing percentage.
- Wednesday will be a sibling-vs.-sibling matchup in cage, as Sophia Cardello will face her younger sister, Luchianna. Luchianna Cardello is ninth in the country with a .503 save percentage this season.
- This will be the 34th meeting of all–time between Rutgers and Hofstra – the longest series against one opponent in school history. Rutgers leads the Pride, 23-10, all-time, which includes an 18-13 victory over Hofstra on March 25, 2016, in the schools' last meeting.
- Rutgers hosts No. 9 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 6 at SHI Stadium. First draw is set for 5 p.m. and will stream on Big Ten Plus. Saturday serves as Senior Day for the program, as the Scarlet Knights will recognize Jessica Beneducci, Sophia Cardello, Kate Carolonza, Sara Carolonza, Mikayla Dever, Nicole DiLullo, Madsion Grady, Keeley McNemar, Lauren Messinese, Ashley Moynahan, Ellie Riegner, and Cassidy Spilis.
