Women's Basketball Signs Five-Star Guard Kiyomi McMiller

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's basketball head coach Coquese Washington announced the signing of incoming freshman and five-star recruit Kiyomi McMiller on Thursday afternoon.

A 5-foot-9 shooting guard, McMiller is currently ranked No. 22 by espnW. She played the last two seasons of her high school career at Life Center Academy in Burlington, New Jersey, averaging 30.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game during her senior campaign.

McMiller leaves high school with an impressive resume over a three-year span, scoring 2,015 points, 437 rebounds, 363 assists and 231 steals in 70 games.

"Kiyomi McMiller is one of the most exciting players I've ever seen play the game of basketball," Washington said. "She is a walking highlight, and our fans are going to love watching her breathtaking performances in Jersey Mike's Arena. She is a fast-paced guard which fits in well with how we like to play. Moreover, she is highly competitive and is ready to elevate Rutgers women's basketball to new heights. It's going to be a lot of fun coaching Kiyomi."

Best known for her skilled ball handling and flashy highlights, McMiller is primed to make an immediate impact in the Big Ten during her rookie season. She has been touted as one of the top prospects in the nation by outlets such as the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sports Center Next, WSLAM and Overtime WBB.

Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, McMiller is a McDonald's All-American nominee as well as a Jordan All-American.

In 2023, McMiller became the first high school athlete to ever sign a Name, Image and Likeness contract with the Jordan Brand. She will participate in the Jordan Brand Classic on April 21st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. and will be available to stream on NBA App and simulcast on NBA's YouTube Channel. Fans can purchase tickets here.

McMiller comes from a basketball family, as her mother Ravilia McMiller played at Mount Saint Mary's, her aunt Ashley Simmons (Alexander) played at Loyola Maryland and cousin Nalini Page (Hawkins) played at Army.
