Softball Records Back-To-Back 30 Win Seasons For First Time In Program History

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Rutgers softball team collected another milestone on Friday afternoon at Secchia Stadium as a 3-0 victory gave the Scarlet Knights back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history.
RU plated three runs in the seventh to improve to 30-19 overall and 11-7 in Big Ten play, tying the record for most Big Ten wins since joining the league in the 2014-15 academic year.

- Bailey Briggs, Maddie Lawson and Leilani Chavez each scored RU's three runs in the top of the seventh.
- Lauren Punk and Jillian Anderson each collected RBIs.
- Morgan Smith upped her record to 10-10 inside the circle hurling the final five innings. She allowed one hit in the 18 batters faced while striking out four Spartans.

- Rutgers recorded its first hit of the game in the sixth inning and the game remained scoreless heading into the seventh.
- Katie Wingert led off the top of the seventh with a walk and Bailey Briggs took over duties at first base. Maddie Lawson, the following batter, hit a grounder to third but the throw over to first hit the dirt and bounced into foul territory allowing Briggs to score the first run and Lawson to advance over to third. Lauren Punk followed with an RBI single up the middle for a 2-0 lead. After a Leilani Chavez fielder's choice and Kobie Hura single to left, Jillian Anderson singled to shallow center field with everyone advancing a base. The outfielder bobbled the ball giving Chavez the opportunity to come home.
