Big Ten Network and the FOX Sports app will provide linear coverage of the Championships on Sunday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
The 3rd Varsity 4 made a statement early in their race by claiming the lead by the 1,000-meter mark, holding off the field with a bit of open-water victory for their Big Ten Championships. The boat was coxed by Ugochinyere Egbuchulam, stroked by Abigail Franks, followed by Vanessa Karayiannis, Sofia Ulinski, and Katie French.
The 2nd Varsity 8 kept a close pace with No. 9 Michigan throughout the first 1,500 meter before the Wolverines pulled ahead for a 4.6-second margin of victory over RU. Coxswain Emily Mahaffy, Chiara Saccomando, Corina Coughlan, Catherine Garvey, Mary Ciardiello, Lauren Andersen, Libby Snyder, Chloe Couillens, and Taylor Ralston earned silver medals for the performance.
The Varsity 4 of coxswain Alana Prawl, Margaret Kane, Louise Dinard, Katharina Dowlin, and Louise Liemberg were locked in a right race between the top four teams in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knight picked up their stroke rate in the latter half of the race to finish ahead of No. 14 Indiana for third place and the bronze championships medal.
Rutgers' Varsity 8 was less than a second short of a Big Ten medal, just a tick behind No. 12 Ohio State for third.
Sophomore Lily Wood has been named First Team All-Big Ten. Graduate student Annie Wertheimer has earned Second Team All-Big Ten accolades. Senior Emily Mahaffy has been named the Rutgers recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
