Shane Knobloch, Colin Kirst Named to USA Lacrosse Sixes Camp

Duo of RU alumns to compete at training camp at USA Lacrosse Headquarters

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Two alumns from Rutgers' men's lacrosse, Shane Knobloch and Colin Kirst, were selected to compete in a training camp this week at USA Lacrosse Headquarters. The duo were two of the 23 men's lacrosse players invited to the training camp for the U.S. sixes team as USA Lacrosse begins the build-up to the 2028 LA Olympics.

The camp will be held this week, from Monday June 10 to Wednesday June 12. It will feature a public session on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 pm with no admission charge.

This will be the only training camp for the sixes team before a camp just ahead of the inaugural USA Lacrosse Experience in Indianapolis from Oct. 11-12, 2024. The U.S. sixes team will play against international competition during that event.

Knobloch recently graduated Rutgers in the spring of 2024, where he was a four-time All-American and was named the national Midfielder of the Year after the past season. After scoring 98 goals and collecting 49 assists in his RU career, he became the program's highest ever pro lacrosse draft pick, going fourth overall in the PLL College Draft. The Moorestown, N.J. native has settled right into a starting role for the Carolina Chaos, where he has already scored two goals in the first two weekends of the season. Previously, Knobloch competed with Team USA with the U-21 team at the World Championships in Ireland in the summer of 2022, leading the team to a gold medal.

Kirst played two seasons 'On the Banks' in 2021 and 2022, where he was a two-time All-American and two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection. He made 234 saves in 2022, 3rd most in a single-season in RU history, to backstop the program to its first ever Final Four appearance. The Bernardsville, N.J. native has become the starting goalkeeper for the PLL's Boston Cannons, where he has been named an All-Star.
