Youth Football Night: Thursday, Aug. 29 vs. Howard

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football looks forward to kicking off the 2024 season with Youth Football Night on Thursday, Aug. 29 versus Howard. Single game tickets are now on sale for the season opener, which is set for a 6 p.m. start. Following the game, stay tuned for a fireworks show.

The Youth Football Night celebration begins with being part of the pregame parade down The Rutgers Boardwalk. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and Block R helmet sticker. Be on the lookout for an in-game announcement and team photos on the videoboard. For more information and to register, click here.

As an opportunity to say thank you for their unwavering support, season ticket holders will once again be able to claim two complimentary tickets for Howard. Season ticket holders will receive an email at a later date to claim their complimentary tickets.

The Rutgers Boardwalk, presented by the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism, returns to highlight the pregame festivities around SHI Stadium. Stop by Scarlet Knight Way to enjoy the top food trucks in New Jersey, experience free rides, games, interactive experiences, prizes and live entertainment. Giveaways include "Beat Howard" buttons, posters and shakers. In addition, RWJBarnabas Health, Horizon, Pizza Hut and ShopRite will be present for special activations. RWJBarnabas Health will also present the "Shining Knight" during the game.

Get to The Rutgers Boardwalk early for the pregame parade and pep rally featuring The Scarlet Knight Marching Band, Spirit Team, the Scarlet Knight horse "Excalibur" with the Knight and the football team arrival. The Rutgers Boardwalk opens at 2 p.m.

The RU Reading program is back with the goal of motivating and rewarding K-8 students. Those who complete the reading goal are eligible for a free ticket to the game versus Howard (Aug. 29) or Akron (Sept. 7) with the purchase of one additional ticket. At halftime, the Marching Scarlet Knights will take the field with the Howard band for a special performance.
