PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball has announced its 2024-25 nonconference schedule, featuring 11 regular season games. The Scarlet Knights will play 10 of the 11 games at Jersey Mike's Arena, only going on the road once to start the season.
The entire 2024-25 Rutgers women's basketball season is presented by Prudential.
"This will be a fun and exciting season of basketball for Scarlet Knight fans," head coach Coquese Washington said. "Our fans will have the chance to see some of the nation's best talent playing in Jersey Mike's Arena this year. We look forward to the tremendous support and home court advantage our fan base will provide."
Before the official start of the campaign, RU will host in-state opponent Caldwell in an open exhibition on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Rutgers will kick off the 2024-25 slate and a four-game homestand on Monday, Nov. 4 against Manhattan. This will be the fourth meeting in the all-time series between the two teams in which RU is 3-0.
The Scarlet Knights will welcome two foes from the 2022-23 season back "On The Banks" in Cornell on Thursday, Nov. 7 and NJIT on Sunday, Nov. 10. The last time the teams met, nearly two seasons ago, Rutgers came out on top by 15+ points, respectively.
RU will then host Iona on Friday, Nov. 15 in Piscataway for the first time 2015. The team will celebrate Recess Day against the Gaels, welcoming students from local schools for the 11 a.m. tip.
In its only road trip of the nonconference slate, Rutgers will travel to take on Virginia Tech, in a rematch from last season, on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The Scarlet Knights will then return to Jersey Mike's Arena on Sunday, November 24 to face in-state rival Princeton.
Washington and Rutgers women's basketball will host its inaugural Thanksgiving Tournament, Battle On The Banks, in partnership with J5 Inc. on Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30. Three teams will make the journey to Piscataway including Georgia Southern, Marquette and Maryland Eastern Shores.
RU will face the first of the two opponents, playing Marquette on Nov. 29 and Georgia Southern on Nov. 30.
The Scarlet Knights will end the nonconference campaign with three home games, meeting opponents they have seen in the last two seasons. The stretch will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 11 versus Fairleigh Dickinson.
Rutgers will round out December against both Wagner (Sunday, Dec. 15) and Lafayette (Saturday, Dec. 21) for the second consecutive season. The squad found success against both teams in 2023, defeating the Seahawks by 43 and the Leopards by 21.
The Big Ten schedule with dates and times will be announced by the conference in the coming months. The Scarlet Knights's conference opponents were announced in the beginning of May as RU will host Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, UCLA and USC at Jersey Mike's Arena while traveling to face Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington and Oregon. In addition, Rutgers will play Penn State both home and away.
