Women's Soccer Beats Michigan, 3-1

PISCATAWAY, N.J.  – Rutgers women's soccer beat Michigan by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field.

The Scarlet Knights (4-7-4, 2-7-1) used a pair of early goals to beat the Wolverines (6-8-3.3-4-3) and send the program's seniors off on a high note.

Rutgers controlled the game from whistle to whistle, dominating in total shots (19-9) and shots on goal (12-4).

The first goal of the day came off the foot of Ashley Baran, who scored on a fastbreak off a feed from Olivia Russomanno, making it 1-0 in the 24th minute. Russomanno's assist was her team-high third of the season.

Just 12 minutes later, Nata Ramirez put a shot in from distance to double the advantage. It was her fourth goal, which gave her the team lead at the time. Assisting the goal was the duo of Adela Vasakova and Abigail Cox. They each picked up their first assists as Scarlet Knights.

The Wolverines made it a match in the 58th minute, scoring on a fastbreak to make it a one-goal game with just over 30 minutes remaining.

As RU worked to wind down the clock late in the game, Baran took a shot from distance in the 86th minute that floated over the UM goalkeeper to put away the victory. It was her second goal of the game, fourth of the season and second career game with multiple goals, joining last year's hat trick against Nebraska.

In net, Olivia Bodmer made three more saves – all in the second half – bringing her season total to 62.

Prior to the game, Rutgers honored its five seniors – GK Rachel Quigley, GK Olivia Bodmer, B Marcia Ojo, M/F Allie Post and M/F Nata Ramirez. All five played, with Quigley making her second start of the season in goal.

Rutgers will wrap up the 2025 season on the road next Sunday, taking on Maryland at 1 p.m. in College Park.
