PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's golf travels to Loxley, Alabama, this weekend to compete in the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, closing out its fall schedule from Saturday, October 25 through Sunday, October 26.
Coming off an encouraging top-six finish at the Quail Valley Collegiate, the Scarlet Knights look to carry that momentum into their final event of the fall.
With steady improvement shown throughout the semester, Rutgers aims to finish strong before turning its focus to spring competition.
"Fine-tuning the little things and trusting what's been built over the past few months is always going to be important," said head coach Rob Shutte. "Each tournament has shown progress, and now it's about putting all of that together, no matter where we are in the season."
Graduate student Jeffrey Zatorski looks to build on his recent success after an impressive, composed under-par performance at Quail Valley. His consistent ball striking helped set the tone for the team heading into Alabama.
"I was patient, trusted my prep, and it paid off," Zatorski said. "I just want to keep that rhythm going — same focus, same confidence — and do what helps the team."
Shutte emphasized the mindset the program continues to build throughout the season.
"This is about finishing with focus and purpose," Shutte said. "The guys have put in a lot of work, and you can see the progress in how they carry themselves on the course. We just want to keep building momentum and trust what's been working."
As Rutgers prepares for its final tee times of the fall, the focus remains on closing the semester with grit and confidence.
"These last events are always a good way to measure where we are heading into the break," Zatorski added. "We've put in the work — now it's about enjoying the moment and competing with confidence."
