PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Following a four-touchdown passing performance in the win over Maryland, Rutgers football QB
Athan Kaliakmanis was named among the Manning Award "Stars of the Week."
Voting is open through Wednesday at 10 a.m. to determine the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Kaliakmanis matched his career high with the four scoring passes, also done in September versus Miami (Ohio), in becoming the first Scarlet Knight with multiple four-touchdown games in a season since Gary Nova had three such games in 2014. That included a 9-yard connection to WR
DT Sheffield and scoring completions of 45, five and 14 yards to WR
Ian Strong. It was the third time a Rutgers quarterback threw four touchdown passes in a Big Ten game, joining Chris Laviano (2015 versus Maryland) and Nova (2014 at Maryland).
Kaliakmanis is up to 35 overall for Rutgers, passing Frank Burns (1945-48) for seventh most touchdown passes in program history. In 2025, he has registered 17 to tie Ryan Hart (2004) for ninth most in a season in the school record book.
Kaliakmanis is up to 2,705 passing yards this year, sixth most in RU history for a season, and became the first Scarlet Knight to reach 2,500 passing yards in consecutive seasons since Mike Teel (2007-08). In addition, he has now reached 200 passing yards in a game in three straight weeks, nine times in 2025, 16 times as a Scarlet Knight and 19 times in his career.
Rutgers is back in action Nov. 22 at No. 1 Ohio State.
