Raymond Named Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week
Nov 11 | Football
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – After rushing for 240 yards on 41 carries with 13 first downs and a touchdown in the win over Maryland, Rutgers football RB Antwan Raymond was named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week, the SMU Athletic Forum announced Tuesday. The Canadian ranks second in the Big Ten this season with 1,000 rushing yards and third with 11 rushing scores.
The 240 rushing yards are the most by a Big Ten player in a game in 2025 (by 55 yards) and third most nationally. The mark is the third highest by a Scarlet Knight in program history behind Ray Rice's 280 versus Ball State (2008 International Bowl) and 243 at Army (2007), setting the standard for a conference game. It was the 20th 200-yard rushing game in Rutgers history.
Running the ball on each of the first six offensive snaps of the game, Raymond tied Savon Huggins (2012 at Cincinnati) and Jawan Jamison (2012 at USF) for the most carries in a game in program history. The tally also matches the high-water mark for a game nationally in 2025.
The performance against the Terrapins included 14 rushing attempts for 105 yards in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a five-yard touchdown with 4:10 remaining to extend the lead to two scores. The 11 rushing touchdowns are 10th most in a season in program history.
Raymond's final rush of the game brought him to 1,000 yards for the season in becoming the ninth player in program history to reach the number. It marks the third straight season a Scarlet Knight reaches quadruple figures in a season, as Kyle Monangai achieved the feat in 2023 and 2024.
Rutgers is back in action Nov. 22 at No. 1 Ohio State.
