PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's basketball head coach Coquese Washington announced the signing of guard/forward Chanté Murray on Wednesday afternoon.
Murray comes "On The Banks" from Malton, Ontario, Canada where she is the fourth ranked player in Canada's 2026 class.
"Chanté Murray is a strong, tough guard who is quite impactful on both sides of the ball. She continues to blossom as a player, and her future is extremely bright."
Murray attends Crestwood Preparatory in Toronto, one of Canada's premiere high school basketball programs.
She brings along an impressive resume highlighted by her experience with Team Canada at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup. She helped her country win a silver medal, averaging 1.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and an assist in four games. During the same 2024 season she was also named an All-Star at the All-Canadian Games.
In addition to her international prowess, Murray plays for Kia Nurse Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit, one of the most competitive AAU leagues in North America and the only Jordan-sponsored Nike EYBL program in Canada.
So far in 2025, she has been named an OSBA All-Star at Crestwood Prep and the NPH Athlete of the Year.
Success on the American hardwood runs in her family, as her uncle Joe Martin played at VCU as well as her brother Jamar Martin at Charleston Southern.
