
Swimming and Diving Competes at No. 25 Princeton

RU Has Two First Place Finishes and Two Top-10 School Marks
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers swimming and diving competed against in-state foe and No. 25 ranked Princeton on Saturday morning in the sixth annual Battle for the Cannon Trophy. The Scarlet Knights had two new top-10 marks in program history and had 13 podium finishes overall with two first place finishes, six seconds and five third places.
Emilianna Gonzalez continues to excel in the 50-yard freestyle. The freshman swam a 22.90 to win the event, just off her previous mark of 22.83 earlier this year, which had been the sixth fastest time in school history.
Cameron Kuriger swam the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.47. That was her fastest time as a Scarlet Knight and 10th fastest in school history.
The No. 6 ranked diving squad excelled with four podium finishes, including placing first, second and third in the three-meter diving. Bailee Sturgill posted a personal best 337.73 on the 3-meter, which is eighth on the school's all-time top ten list. Sephora Ford placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive.
In the meet scoring, the Tigers had a 212.5-87.5 victory over the Scarlet Knights. Princeton has claimed the Cannon Trophy in the last five meets. RU last defeated Princeton in 2019.
Rutgers competes again next week at the Naval Academy Invite. The Scarlet Knights will head down to Annapolis for competition from Thursday through Saturday.
