PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football RB
Antwan Raymond is one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker National Running Back Award, the SMU Athletic Forum announced Tuesday. The Canadian has rushed for 1,000 yards in 10 games so far in 2025.
Most recently, Raymond ran for 240 yards (105 in the fourth quarter) on 41 carries with 13 first downs and a touchdown in the win over Maryland to merit the
Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week. The 240 rushing yards are the most by a Big Ten player in a game in 2025 (by 55 yards) and fifth most nationally. The mark is the third highest by a Scarlet Knight in program history behind Ray Rice's 280 versus Ball State (2008 International Bowl) and 243 at Army (2007), setting the standard for a conference game.
It was the 20th 200-yard rushing game in Rutgers history and Raymond's third game of the year with at least 100 yards.
From Montréal, Québec, Canada, he has scored a touchdown in eight different games this season, totaling 12 (11 rushing, one receiving) to rank fourth in the Big Ten. That included posting four straight games with multiple rushing touchdowns, the first Scarlet Knight to achieve the feat since "JJ" Jennings in 1973. The 11 rushing scores are currently tied for 10th most in a season in the school record book.
Raymond's final rush against the Terrapins brought him to 1,000 yards for the season in becoming the ninth player in program history to reach the number. It marks the third straight season a Scarlet Knight reaches quadruple figures in a season, following
Kyle Monangai, who achieved the feat in 2023 and 2024.
The 41 carries last time out matched the school record for a game, as Raymond has posted at least 10 rushing attempts in each game and ranks sixth nationally with 200 rushes. Adding 15 receptions for 163 yards, Raymond is 11th nationally and third in the league with 116.3 all-purpose yards per game.
Raymond, who has 300 career carries for 1,457 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns, becomes the first Scarlet Knight to become a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award since Ray Rice was a finalist in 2007.
Rutgers is back in action Saturday at No. 1 Ohio State.
Kickoff is set for noon on FOX.
