Piscataway, N.J. - Rutgers Athletics and Scarlet Assets Management Company (SAMCO) have officially launched their search for a Director of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), a key leadership position that will oversee the
university's in-house NIL program, R NIL, and support all NIL-related operations in partnership with SAMCO and the broader Rutgers community.
This position is one of four core roles that are now open within the R NIL unit, including a dedicated fulfillment position and two creative content-focused roles that support comprehensive NIL operations alongside the Rutgers Athletics and SAMCO staff.
The Director of NIL will play a central role in advancing Rutgers' rapidly expanding NIL infrastructure. The position will serve as the primary contact for all NIL activity, leading coordination across departments and partnerships. The role will also manage relationships with external NIL platforms while providing strategic and technical support to Rutgers student-athletes.
Key responsibilities include oversight of NIL-related sales operations, partnership strategies that grow revenue opportunities and efficient delivery of NIL activations in full compliance with university, state, and NCAA guidelines. The Director of NIL will be responsible for guiding internal and external communication with student-athletes, coaches, staff, recruits, families, boosters, and local businesses.
In addition, the Director will represent Rutgers Athletics and R NIL at conferences, community events, and industry forums, helping to elevate Rutgers' national NIL presence and cultivate future partnerships within SAMCO.
"The Director of NIL position represents a significant step in expanding our revenue strategy and building the support within SAMCO to drive long-term growth in NIL," said Lisa Tirrell, SAMCO President and CEO. "This role will create new pathways for corporate partnerships and ensure Rutgers is positioned to maximize the opportunities of the evolving NIL marketplace. It's an investment that will elevate our department and deliver measurable value for our student-athletes, our partners, and our brand."
