Volleyball Upended At No. 17 Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --  Rutgers volleyball closed out the road portion of its 2025 schedule on Thursday night with a 25-17, 25-12, 25-15 loss at No. 17 Indiana.

STANDOUT STATS
  • Sophomore Aspen Maxwell posted seven kills with senior Aly Borellis putting up 10 assists for the offense.
  • Rutgers totaled seven aces with a trio from junior Jenna DeLaMater and a pair from senior Lexi Visintine and Lauren Wilcock. Visintine is two aces away from her 100th career ace and becoming the second Scarlet Knight of the rally era to accomplish the feat.
  • Visintine also collected a pair of solo blocks.
KEY MOMENTS
  • SET 1 (17-25) | The Hoosiers used both an early and a late run to take the opening frame. While Indiana looked to be in control early, Rutgers rebounded. The Hoosiers opened with a 7-2 start, but the Scarlet Knights responded by taking a 7-1 run for a 9-8 lead, capped by an ace from Lauren Wilcock. While RU was up 11-10, Indiana scored five unanswered to take back the lead and stay in front. A trio of kills coming from Tara Garvey, Aspen Maxwell and Imani Howell prompted a Hoosier timeout with the Scarlet Knights trailing 19-16. The hosts, however, rattled off another five-straight, ultimately closing on a 6-1 run to take the frame.
  • SET 2 (12-25) | Indiana collected seven straight to open and never trailed. Jenna DeLaMater helped Rutgers with a string of three consecutive aces to trail 11-5, but the Hoosiers would go on to lead by figures, saving lone two attack errors until late in the set, and ended the frame hitting .500, while RU committed nine errors.
  • SET 3 (15-25) | It was another 7-2 start for the Hoosiers. A pair of Indiana service errors and a kill from Maxwell cut into the deficit for RU to trail 8-5, and a 4-1 run that included Wilcock's second ace of the game and a kill from Mira McCool saw the Scarlet Knights down 12-9. The Hoosiers continued to grow their lead behind a 7-1 burst that was interrupted by a solo block from and an ace from Visintine.
