Molly Urkiel appeared in two B finals with a school record in the 400 IM and freshman
Katerina Hoffman returns to the boards in the evening session on 3M on day three of the Big Ten Championships at the McCorkle Aquatics Center.
Urkiel reset her own 400 IM school record twice on Friday. First, she clocked in at 4:12.83 to qualify for B finals besting her previous record of 4:13.39 set at the Minnesota Invitational in December. In the B final, she finished third in the heat dropping 2.75 seconds from the morning to hit the wall in 4:10.08.
Urkiel was also just shy of the school record in qualifying for the 100 breast B final. She touched the wall in 1:00.43, a mere .02 short of
Tina Celik's benchmark set in 2024. Urkiel finished seventh in the B final with a time of 1:00.71.
Also in the 100 breast, sophomore
Sofia Bartoloni missed the cut for finals by one spot. Her time of 1:01.80 was the ninth fastest time on record for the Scarlet Knights.Â
The 400 medley relay squad's
Natalie Schick led off with a back leg of 54.46 for the 10
th fastest time at Rutgers and besting her previous PR of 55.25 set during last year's Big Ten Championship.
Hoffman returned to the evening session for the second straight day, qualifying for the 3M consolation finals. The freshman Scarlet Knight collected a score of 279.60 after the day's first six dives to place 14
th out of the prelims. Hoffman placed eighth in the consolation round with a 269.35.
The 2025 Big Ten Women's Swimming & Diving Championships conclude on Saturday with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free, platform and 400 free relay.
