Freshman Scored Three Goals with Two Assists in Win over Loyola
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse freshman JJ Aiello was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Aiello had three goals and two assists in the Scarlet Knights' win over Loyola.
The Bayport, N.Y. native had a game-high five points in the win over the Greyhounds, contributing to 50 percent of the team's goals. It was his first career hat trick.
Aiello grabbed his second Freshman of the Week award this season. He earned the first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award this season following the first game of the season, a road win over No. 20 Lehigh.
Aiello has compiled six goals and five assists for 11 points through five games this season. The freshman is the team's current leader in goals, assists and points.
Aiello and the Scarlet Knights are back in action this weekend, hosting St. Joe's this Saturday. RU is home for three of their next four games.
