PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (5-3, 0-0) heads west to open Big Ten Conference play at Oregon (5-3, 0-1) on Sunday in Eugene. First draw from Papé Field is set for 3 p.m., with the game streamed on Big Ten Plus.
Sunday's conference matchup with the Ducks is the first trip to the West Coast in program history, and marks the furthest the Scarlet Knights have traveled for a game since it played at Denver on March 20, 2010.
- Rutgers lost to No. 12 Princeton, 20-8, on Wednesday night at SHI Stadium. The Tigers opened the matchup with a 7-0 scoring run and put 41 shots on goals to earn the in-state, non-conference victory in Piscataway.
- Junior Ava Chiarella netted her first hat trick of the season, finishing the night with three goals, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Sophomore Alex Popham added two goals, while senior Alexa Corbin and rookies Caroline Ling and Delainey Sutley all contributed scores. Junior Lily Dixon dished out an assist to go along with two ground balls and draw controls.
- Junior Katie Buck muscled a game-high seven draw controls, while freshman Bianca Chiarella caused two turnovers and scooped up two ground balls. Graduate student goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron stopped a career-high 21 saves against the high-powered Princeton offense.
- Rutgers moved into the USA Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 on Monday, checking in at No. 19. It is the program's first appearance in any of the three polls this season.
- No. 12 Princeton represented the third ranked for the Scarlet Knights in their last four games, as RU has also faced No. 4 Yale (L, 12-6) and No. 16 Stony Brook (W, 12-11 (OT)) during the stretch. Rutgers is set to face nine ranked foes this year, including No. 3 Northwestern, No. 4 Yale, No. 5 Maryland, No. 10 Johns Hopkins, No. 11 Michigan, No. 12 Princeton, No. 18 Stony Brook, No. 20 Ohio State and No. 21 USC.
- Coldiron has been one of the top netminders in the country this season, leading the Big Ten in saves (98) and saves per game (12.25). Coldiron is also third in the country in save percentage (.557).
- Buck is third in the Big Ten and 17th nationally with 7.88 draw controls per game. Her 63 draw controls rank second in the conference.
- Dixon needs 14 points to become the 28th player in school history to hit 100 for her career.
- Senior Madison Karpe needs six ground balls to hit 100 for her career.
- The Ducks opened Big Ten action this past Wednesday with a 20-6 home loss to No. 20 Ohio State in Eugene. Oregon opened the season with four consecutive victories, all at home.
- Anna Simmons leads Oregon in points (26) and goals (25) this season. Twenty-one of her 25 goals this season have come at home.
- Rutgers and Oregon met last season for the first time, with the Scarlet Knights defeating the Ducks, 15-7, on March 3, 2024 at SHI Stadium. Victoria Goldrick and Payton Tini each produced four points in the victory.
- Rutgers returns home to host Temple on Thursday at SHI Stadium. First draw is set for 7 p.m., with the game streamed on Big Ten Plus.
