Four Scarlet Knight Divers To Compete At NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON -- Rutgers is sending the most Scarlet Knight divers to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship in school history.

Senior Holly Prasanto, junior Sephora Ford and freshmen Katerina Hoffman and Bailee Sturgill will each be vying for a national title on March 20-22 at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Washington. The championship will be streamed on ESPN+ with live results available at DiveMeets.com.

Hoffman enters the championships as the top seed on women's 3M after capturing the highest score in the country at NCAA Zone regional competition.

The Scarlet Knights have sent at least one diver to the NCAA Championships the last four seasons.

NCAA ZONES RECAP

1M
  • Holly Prasanto was the runner-up on the event, scoring a total of 602.40, and was .50 points off first place. Her score of 313.00 across her final six dives on the day marked a new PR and the fourth-highest score in the Rutgers record book.
  • Bailee Sturgill followed in third with a total of 583.70 with Katerina Hoffman in fourth with 582.00.
3M
  • Of the seven women's divers that qualified for 3M at the NCAA Championships from Zone A, four were Scarlet Knights.
  • Katerina Hoffman finished with a total of 714.85 with her final six dives totaling 356.45 for the third-highest total in the Rutgers record book. It was the highest score among all zone competitors on 3M.
  • Junior Sephora Ford and freshman Bailee Sturgill  also qualified for their first NCAA appearances as Ford finished third with a total score of 640.05 while Sturgill placed fourth with a final total of 627.40.
  • Senior Holly Prasanto returns to the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row. Prasanto, who qualified last year for 1M and reached the NCAA consolation finals taking ninth overall, took sixth at this year's zones with a score of 626.05.
Platform
  • Bailee Sturgill won the event with a 10-dive total of 570.30 becoming the second Scarlet Knight to win a title at this year's zone championships.
  • Sephora Ford was the runner-up with a total score of 265.20.
  • Katerina Hoffman placed sixth but qualified for the NCAA Championships after advancing to NCAA on both 1M and 3M and previously achieving a qualifying score on platform. She totaled 491.04 across her 10 dives.
RUTGERS DIVING AT BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Rutgers had three divers qualify for the evening session on 1M for the first time since 2017 as Bailee Sturgill led the Scarlet Knights in taking seventh overall on 1M with a score of 286.50 in her first-ever Big Ten appearance. The freshman qualified for finals after taking seventh in the preliminary round with a score of 277.55. Senior Holly Prasanto and freshman Katerina Hoffman both advanced to the consolation final. Prasanto was 3.35 points away from the top eight and finished prelims ninth with a score of 273.50. She went on to take sixth in the consolation final with a 275.05. Hoffman was 14th after the first round scoring a 267.70 and was third in the consolation final with a score of 285.10.

Hoffman returned to the evening session for the second straight day, qualifying for the 3M consolation finals. The freshman Scarlet Knight collected a score of 279.60 after the day's first six dives to place 14th out of the prelims. Hoffman placed eighth in the consolation round with a 269.35. Sturgill, who placed seventh on 1M, made another trip to the podium on platform to place eighth with a score of 251.25. She advanced after finishing eighth in prelims with a score of 265.30.

Junior Sephora Ford was also in the platform evening session, reaching the platform consolation finals, where she took third after totaling 244.70. In prelims, Ford scored 222.20, coming in 14th after five dives for her first Big Ten finals appearance.
