PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse is on the road this weekend for the final game of the regular season. The Scarlet Knights (8-8, 2-5 Big Ten) will head to Ann Arbor, where RU will take on No. 13 Michigan at 1 p.m. The game will be nationally televised by the Big Ten Network.
- Rutgers had a tremendous effort on Wednesday night, battling the No. 7 Maryland Terrapins to the wire. RU held a 4-1 lead in the early going, and had a two-goal lead at halftime. However, Maryland used a 6-1 run in the game, including three goals in the first three minutes of the final quarter to take a 7-5 lead.
- RU did not relent in the game, with a pair of goals just 52 seconds apart tied the game at 7-7 with six minutes to play.
- From there, a late RU tally was waived off for a dangerous follow-through, and Maryland scored the ultimate game-winner with 4:23 to play. RU pressed to equalize the game but came up just short.
- Payton Tini and Alexa Corbin each had two goals in the game, while Delainey Sutley, Kayleigh Coughlin and Alex Popham each tallied once. Lexie Coldiron made 14 saves in the contest.
- Rutgers enters the final week of the regular season No. 35 in the latest RPI. The Scarlet Knights have faced 10 opponents within the RPI top 40 and own two wins over top-40 opponents (No. 29 Stony Brook and No. 32 Delaware).
- Rutgers goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron has made 174 saves, leading the nation. Her save percentage of 51.6% is third nationally and second in the Big Ten. Coldiron earned national and conference defensive player of the week accolades two weeks ago and has also been named a IlWomen Midseason All-American and has been added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She has 10 games of double-digit saves, including four straight against Big Ten foes.
- Lilly Dixon leads the team with 33 assists (fourth in the Big Ten) and has 49 points overall (10th in the league). Dixon is approaching the single-season program record of 39 assists, set previously by Steph Kelly. She recently became the 28th player in program history to reach 100 points for her career.
- Alexa Corbin and Payton Tini share the team-high with 20 goals after each player scored twice against the Terps.
- The Scarlet Knights have six players that have scored between 15 and 20 goals on the year, and eight players to tally double-digit goals.
- Katie Buck has posted a team-high 92 draw controls, eight shy of an even 100 for the season. She is sixth in the conference at 5.75 draw controls per game.
- Michigan (10-4, 4-2 Big Ten) is 17th in the most recent RPI release. The Wolverines are 5-1.
- Michigan is on the road on Thursday night against No. 3 Northwestern prior to hosting RU.
- The Wolverines boast the number five scoring defense in the nation, allowing just 8.14 goals per game. Their scoring margin of +5.5 is 13th in the country.
- Michigan is also 12th nationally with a clearing percentage of .933 and lead the Big Ten at 13.29 foul per game.
- Goalkeeper Erin O'Grady leads the nation with a save percentage of 56.1%. She is second in the Big Ten (ninth nationally) at 10.42 saves per game.
- Jill Smith leads the team in goals with 41, which is sixth in the Big Ten. Kaylee Dyer follows her with 36 tallies, ninth in the conference. Smith is sixth in the league at 58 points, closely followed by Dyer in 7th at 57. Smith is the Michigan career points leader with 222 in her career.
- Emma Burke averages 7.69 draw controls per game, 18th in the nation and third in the Big Ten.
- Rutgers and Michigan have played 10 times, all since the formation of Big Ten lacrosse in 2015. The all-time series is even at 5-5. RU won the first four matchups in the series from 2015-2019. Since then, Michigan is 5-1, with RU's last victory coming in 2022, the Wolverines then claiming the next two. RU's last road win at Michigan came in 2017.
- Rutgers has secured a spot in the Big Ten Tournament. The tournament begins with three quarterfinal games (12 pm/3 pm/6pm) on Wednesday, April 23 at the University of Maryland. The bracket will be revealed following the conclusion of all conference games.
