TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Rutgers gymnastics competed in its first NCAA Championships since 2014 on Thursday afternoon, falling to Clemson 195.400-193.875 in the first-round dual of the regional tournament.
Delaney Adrian (all-around),
Rachael Riley (beam), and
Gabrielle Dildy (beam) will compete in the second-round quad meet as individuals on Friday at 7 p.m. alongside Florida, Oregon State, NC State, and Clemson.
Lisa Chevaire tied for second on vault with her career-high tying 9.775, while
Ginger Richards led on bars with a second-place 9.775.
Rachael Riley paced beam with a second-place 9.800 and
Gabrielle Dildy tied for third on floor with her 9.850.
The floor quad combined for Rutgers' best score at the NCAA Championships in its seventh program appearance since 1998. Their 49.050 was powered by Dildy (9.850), Adrian (9.825),
Elliot Goldsmith (9.825),
Maya Jones (9.775), and
Elia Aird (9.775).
The 193.875 was also Rutgers' best team performance at an NCAA Championships.
