Women's Basketball Signs Graduate Transfer Faith Blackstone

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's basketball head coach Coquese Washington announced the signing of graduate transfer Faith Blackstone Thursday afternoon.

"Faith is a proven and versatile scorer who will have an immediate impact on our team," Washington said. "She is an experienced player and has had tremendous success at all levels. She brings a winning pedigree with postseason participation to our locker room, along with a strong work ethic. We are delighted that Faith Blackstone is joining our family."

Blackstone most recently helped Stephen F. Austin to a Southland Tournament Championship and a spot in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. She was named a First-Team All-Conference selection after leading SFA with 14.8 points per game in addition to averaging 6.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals.

She set multiple Division I career-highs with 26 points against San Diego State (Dec. 19), 11 rebounds twice and five assists against Nicholls (March 1). She was named SLC Player of the Week on Feb. 3rd.

Blackstone paced the Southland Conference with 150 total free throws and made her career best 11 shots from the line three times.

Prior to her time with the Ladyjacks, Blackstone spent the 2023-24 slate at Coppin State. She was crowned the MEAC Sixth Player of the Year, First Team All-MEAC, BOXTOROW Second Team All-American and was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Blackstone played in 27 games and made 16 starts, averaging 11.8 points (5th in MEAC) in addition to 4.3 rebounds. She reached double figures in 17 contests.

The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native also enjoyed stints at CCBC Essex (2022-23), North Carolina A&T (2021-22) and Syracuse (2020-21).

Blackstone attended Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina where she averaged 26.2 pts, 1.9 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game during her senior season. She was an All-State Player and was the 2nd highest scorer in Hillside history.

"I chose Rutgers because it feels like home," Blackstone added. "Being closer to my roots means everything — but what truly moved me was the head coach, Coquese Washington. I've never been coached by a woman before, and the way her vision and values aligned with mine made a deep impact. I knew this was where I belonged."
