
Women's Basketball Knocked Off by Oregon

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball team (9-12, 1-9 B1G) couldn't get past Oregon (16-7, 4-6 B1G) on Wednesday night, falling 74-53.
Lauryn Swann netted a season best 13 points while Zachara Perkins recorded 11 points. Swann and Antonia Bates paced the team with five rebounds each.
How it Happened
- Antonia Bates and Imani Lester got Rutgers going while Oregon added a three. Zachara Perkins followed up with a turnaround layup to give the Scarlet Knights a 6-3 lead through the first four minutes of play.

- With just under six minutes to play, the Ducks tied it up with another deep shot. The opponent added consecutive layups to take the 10-6 edge, before an RU timeout with 4:26 to play.
- Lauryn Swann netted five points in a row out of the break to give her team back the advantage, 11-10.
- The teams traded buckets and the lead all the way through the final seconds of the first quarter, but Oregon added a buzzer three to come out with the 19-16 lead.
- Nene Ndiaye scored first in the second quarter, but the Ducks followed up with a 7-0 run to go up, 26-18, with 7:21 to play.
- Perkins broke up the stretch, but the opponent answered with another four points in a row to stay ahead by 11 and force another Rutgers timeout.

- Oregon continued its run out of the pause, recording another 11 points. With under a minute to play, Swann put an end to the stretch with five points of her own. The Ducks ended the opening half with one more bucket to take the 44-25 lead into the locker room.
- The teams went back and forth to start the third quarter, each netting three baskets through the first two minutes. However, Oregon put together two layups and a three in succession to stay on top. The opposition added four more points as RU called its third timeout at 4:49, 59-32.
- Rutgers went on a 6-0 run of its own, with a deep shot from Nene Ndiaye and a three-point play from Perkins. The opponent came back with a layup, but Janae Walker matched it off an offensive rebound.
- The Scarlet Knights kept up the momentum going with a steal from Perkins and a subsequent three from Kaylah Ivey. The Ducks made another last second three to head into the final 10 minutes with the 65-43 edge.
- Swann kicked off the final 10 minutes with a three, but Oregon combated it with five points.
- Both teams added free throws, but Bates and Nene Ndiaye recorded buckets before the 4:10 media timeout, 72-52.
- Each team added one more bucket, but the Ducks still came out with the 74-53 win.
Knights Notes
- Lauryn Swann set a season high with 13 points against Oregon. She has netted 10+ four times this season, all coming in the last five outings.
- Zachara Perkins netted 11 points in her return after missing three games. She has hit double figured in 11 outings so far.
- Antonia Bates and Swann paced RU with five rebounds each. Bates has led Rutgers on the boards six times this campaign.
- The contest was close through the first part of the game, with seven lead changes and four ties.
- Rutgers won the final quarter of play, 10-9.
