FAIRFAX, Va. – Rutgers volleyball's win streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to George Mason, host of the Patriot Invitational.
The Scarlet Knights' win streak, the longest for the squad since 2012, was halted at seven as the Patriots prevailed 25-22, 28-26, 25-14.
The loss dropped RU to 8-3 overall while GMU improved to 7-4 on the season.
- Sophomore Aspen Maxwell and senior Tara Garvey were both in double-digit kills for the Scarlet Knights. Maxwell led with 14 kills to go along with a team-leading three aces, three digs and a block. Garvey added 10 kills.
- Sophomore Lily Bolen directed the attack with 28 helpers and two aces.
- Defensively junior Zora Hardison made five total blocks while sophomore Alleigh Dutton came up with eight digs.

- SET 1 (22-25) | The Scarlet Knights had a late surge and forced George Mason to play for set point five times, but ultimately it was the hosts taking the opener. The Scarlet Knights had success from behind the line as four early aces, including back-to-back aces from Aspen Maxwell, knotted the score at 9-9. The frame was tied up again at 10-10 off a kill from Natalie Robinson, however, George Mason used an 8-1 run for a lead they would not relinquish. The Patriots led by as many as eight at 21-13 before the Scarlet Knights came back to pull within two at 24-22. Maxwell contributed three of her five kills during the burst.
- SET 2 (26-28) | The second set saw a back-and-forth battle with 18 ties. The Patriots opened with a 9-6 edge, but the Scarlet Knights punched back by outscoring the hosts 6-1 for the lead at 12-11. From there, the set would be tied nine times without letting the Patriots in front until George Mason used a kill from Kaley Graetz and solo stop from Camryn Weldon for a 26-25 edge. One of Tara Harvey's five kills of the frame evened the score for a final time at 26-26, but the Patriots captured the set with the next two points.
- SET 3 (14-25) | RU opened with a 6-2 advantage, but George Mason used four unanswered to tie the frame and later rattled off eight straight to go out to a 16-9 lead. The Patriots hit a match-best .389, while the Scarlet Knights registered 10 errors on the attack. Maxwell added four kills in the final set.
