Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season With Two School Records
Mar 21 | Track & Field
TAMPA and MIAMI, Fla. – Rutgers track and field opened the outdoor season in record-breaking fashion as marks were set in the men's 4x100 relay and pole vault. The Scarlet Knights split their opening weekend, sending the throws group to the Hurricane Invitational, while the rest of the squad competed in the USF Alumni Invitational on March 20 and 21.
"Between Miami and Tampa, I think it's one of our best opening weekends to an outdoor season," said Bobby Farrell, director of track & field and cross country. "We saw a lot of NCAA qualifying performances, top-10 marks, PRs and two school records."
Brian O'Sullivan broke the school record in the pole vault that was previously set by his brother at last year's NCAA Championships in Eugene. O'Sullivan cleared a height of 5.55m (18' 2.5") to finish first in the event.
