Mar 26 | Women's Golf
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's golf rookie Elizabeth Ryu has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced Thursday by the league office. Ryu carded a top five finish to help the Scarlet Knights to a runner-up result at the City of Oaks Collegiate from March 22-24 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
It marks the second Big Ten Freshman of the Week laurel for Ryu, who earned weekly conference recognition after a tied-for-third result this past fall at the Lehigh Invitational.
Ryu produced her second top five individual result of her young career after tying for fifth at the Lonnie Pool Golf Course earlier this week. Ryu carded a six-over-par 222 (76-71-75) across her 54 holes, highlighted by her one-under-par 71 during Monday's second round. Ryu produced one of just seven under par 18-hole scores in the 73-player field, as the Dublin, Ohio, native finished her tournament with five birdies and 40 pars.
Rutgers competes at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic from March 28-30 in Athens, Georgia.
