Midweek Walk-Off Win Over Wagner In Extras

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers softball won its first-ever midweek home night game with an extra-inning walk-off in the victory over Wagner, 3-2, in eight innings.
Tied at 2-2 after regulation, Kelsey Hoesktra sent all three Seahawk batters down on strikes and Stephanie Kraska delivered an RBI single to plate Riley Hwang for the Scarlet Knight win.
The victory knotted RU's record at 18-18 overall.

| STATISTICALLY SPEAKING |
- Redshirt sophomore Stephanie Kraska went 2-for-3 with her first home run of the season and the walk-off hit.
- Sophomores Baileigh Burtis and Riley Hwang also scored runs in the win.
- Sophomore right-hander Kelsey Hoekstra went to 5-4 in the circle, tossing a scoreless two final innings with six strikeouts and one hit allowed.
| THE RUNDOWN |
- A pair of base hits put RU onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. Baileigh Burtis led off with a single, reached scoring position after Stephanie Kraska was hit by a pitch and scored as Eva Garofalo singled up the middle ahead of the throw from center.
- Wagner took a brief lead in the top of the fourth after generating two runs on three hits, including back-to-back doubles. Addison Day singled up the middle while Leilani Gonzales and Emma Chamber followed with consecutive RBI extra base hits.
- The Seahawk advantage was short-lived as Kraska took a 2-1 count over the wall into left field to lead off the bottom half of the fourth, knotting the score at 2-2.
- Kelsey Hoekstra entered the game in the seventh to pitch for the Scarlet Knights and sent six of the seven batters she faced down on strikes.
In the bottom of the eighth, Riley Hwang led off with a bunt single and advanced on a sac bunt from Burtis. Kraska followed with a single up the middle to score Hwang for the victory.
