
Kevin O’Sullivan Reclaims Pole Vault Record At IC4A Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field earned the men's and women's team titles at the 2026 IC4A/ECAC Championships hosted at the Bauer Complex on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday April 19. The Scarlet Knights collected a total of 14 event wins, including the pole vault school record to highlight the weekend.
"We were very excited about the opportunity to host this championship," said Bobby Farrell, director of track & field and cross country. "It's a historic meet. Both teams competed very well and overcame some tough conditions. We're very proud to bring both titles back to Rutgers."
Kevin O'Sullivan took back his school record in the pole vault after his brother Brian broke the previous record at the Rutgers Relay earlier in the month. Kevin added nearly two inches to the old height, establishing the school record at 5.60m (18' 4.5") and capturing the win. Brian finished second in the event with a height of 5.50m (18' 0.5"), while Ryan Merlino placed third with the No. 4 all-time height, clearing 5.40m (17' 8.5").
The Scarlet Knights added three more wins in the field events on the men's side, led by Sincere Robinson who won the long jump with a distance 8.13m (26' 8.25"), which ranks No. 2 in the nation this season. Robinson also finished sixth in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.00m (6' 6.75") en route to being named IC4A Performer of the Meet. Robinson was followed by Donavan Anderson who placed second in the long jump with a distance of 7.88m (25' 10.25").
Rutgers also went 1-2 in the triple jump as Joseph Oduro posted a win, jumping 15.12m (49' 7.25"), while Anderson finished second with a jump of 15.06m (49' 5"). Malachi Yehudah finished second in the high jump clearing 2.16m (7' 1"), a height that ranks No. 2 all-time.
Justin Kolpan won the javelin with a throw of 59.67m (195' 9"), followed by Nicholas Vannatta in third with a mark of 58.60m (192' 3"). The throws group also received points from Shawn Brady in the discus and shot put. Brady finished third in the discus with a throw of 50.76m (166' 6") and eighth in the shot put with a mark of 15.64m (51' 3.75"). Andrew Krall finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 62.00m (203' 5").
On the track, the men earned wins in four events. Daniel Duncan won the 100-meter in 10.50 and Greg McQueen finished third with a time of 10.57. Bryce Tucker won the 400-meter hurdles in 52.57 and placed runner up in the 400-meter with a time of 47.28.
The distance group was led by Ryan Smith who won the 3,000-meter and posted the fourth-fastest in the program record books in 8:40.64. Sean Matthews won the 10,000-meter with a time of 31:26.11, while Gabriel Rodriguez and Tommy Jendryka added to the scoring. Rodriguez placed seventh in the 800-meter in 1:54.40 and Jendryka placed seventh in the 5,000-meter in 14:53.68.
The Scarlet Knights received balanced scoring on the women's side with three wins on the track and three in the field events.
Jenovia Logan won the high jump, clearing a height of 1.76m (5' 9.25"), while Celine-Jada Brown won the long jump with a leap of 6.49m (21' 3.5"), the No. 3 jump all-time. Llyric Driscoll finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.07m (19' 11"), followed by Paige Floriea in sixth in 6.03m (19' 9.5").
Driscoll finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.01m (39' 5"), followed by Ayotunde Folawewo, who placed eighth in 11.45m (37' 6.75").
Tey'ana Ames won the shot put with a distance of 16.22m (53' 2.75"), adding to her previous No. 2 all-time mark. In the javelin, Malina Bohlmann placed third with a throw of 46.69m (153' 2"), followed by Alianna Eucker in fourth with a throw of 45.12m (148') and Riley Brazier in sixth with a distance of 43.77m (143' 7").
Floriea shined on the track as well, turning in winning performances in two events. In the 200-meter, she ran the third-fastest time, winning the event in 23.55. She also joined Naylah Jones, Abby Love and Cynthia Boakye on the winning 4x100-meter relay team as the group combined for a time of 45.70.
Sierra Latonnel finshed second in the 200-meter in 24.43, followed by Love in fifth in 24.84. The Scarlet Knights went 1-2 in the 400-meter as Success Duruzor won the event in 54.64 and Latonnel placed second in 55.91.
Jones and Love appeared in the 100-meter with Jones finishing second in 11.89, while Love took fourth in 12.08. Driscoll finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.96, followed by Sydney Nettles who placed fifth in 14.56. Nettles also ran the 400-meter hurdles, finishing sixth in 1:04.68.
Alana Henry finished fourth in the 800-meter in 2:14.12 and Cassidy Kidd took fifth in 2:14.35. Emma Baeyens finished fifth in the 3,000-meter with a time of 10:14.66, while Sofia Condron placed seventh in 10:24.39. Baeyens also ran the steeplechase, finishing seventh in 11:28.45, which ranks No. 8 all-time.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Henry, Kidd, Jenai Berry and Gianna Hernandez ran a time of 9:28.21 to finish fifth overall. Hernandez also placed seventh in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:38.96.
Rutgers will travel to Philadelphia for the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field on Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25.
