LAS VEGAS – Rutgers wrestling signee Anthony Knox earned a bronze medal at the 2026 U.S. Open on Saturday at the Expo at World Market Center in Las Vegas. The lightweight standout delivered a 10-3 decision over 2023 NCAA All-American Liam Cronin to finish third in the loaded 57kg division at the tournament.
Pre-seeded fifth, Knox went 4-1 at the senior-level tournament, including back-to-back wins on the front side of the bracket to secure a matchup with two-time NCAA Champion and 2025 Olympic Silver Medalist Spencer Lee.
Knox lost to Lee to drop to the consolation semifinals, where he advanced via disqualification. Knox then capped his tournament with a dominant decision over Cronin, who earned All-America laurels for Nebraska at the 2023 NCAA Championships in Tulsa.
The finish continued a run success for Knox on the international level, being named Most Outstanding Wrestler en route to a U20 Men's Freestyle National Championship at last year's U.S. Open in Las Vegas. Knox followed with a U20 World Team Trials title at 57kg in Geneva, Ohio, securing a spot at the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria for Team USA.
Current Scarlet Knights Billy Townson (61kg) and Jordan Chapman (86kg) are currently competing in the U20 freestyle division of the championships, which run through Sunday.
57kg: Anthony Knox (Third Place, 4-1)
