PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers swimming and diving rising senior Anna Vlachou had a strong performance across the Greek National Swimming Championships this week. Vlachou set a pair of Greek national records for U-23, doing so in the 50 Butterfly with a time of 26.31 and a 55.03 in the 100 Freestyle.
Vlachou won the gold medal in the butterfly, swimming the European Championship A Cut. With the qualifying time, Vlachou will compete later this summer in the European Championships in Paris this August.
"It was a very good time," Vlachou set in a post-swim media interview with Athlead. "I had done a pretty good job in American where I'm studying now and was excited for the chance to come to Greece to swim the 50. Now I want to continue to try for something better at the European Championships."
Vlachou had three top three swims overall. In addition to winning the 50 Fly, the native of Athens placed second in the 100 Free and was in third place in the 100 Fly.
Vlachou had a strong 2026 campaign in her first season as a Scarlet Knight as a transfer from Nebraska. Her season was highlighted as set two new school records at the Big Ten Championships, in the 100 Free and 100 Fly, while swimming the second fastest 50 Free time in school history. She made the A Final at Big Tens in the 100 Fly, finishing on the podium.
