PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer midfielder Lilia Calvert was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week by the conference on Tuesday. She earns the honor after scoring two goals, including the game-winner, in Sunday's 4-2 win over Princeton.
Calvert has started all five matches in the midfield this season and made an immediate impact. She picked up her first collegiate assist in the tie against Providence before scoring her first career goal in the 84th minute against the Tigers to give RU the 3-2 advantage. Four minutes later, she scored on a fastbreak to make the lead 4-2 and put away the victory for the Scarlet Knights.
The honor is the first of the season for Rutgers and the first Big Ten weekly award since Shaela Bradley in Oct. 2024.
